No Menthol Sunday

No Menthol Sunday is The Center for Black Health & Equity’s annual call to action highlighting the detrimental impact tobacco has on Black communities. Every third Sunday in May, we engage faith leaders to educate congregants about smoking, vaping, and the role of new menthol tobacco products and other flavors in initiating nicotine addiction.

No Menthol Sunday has inspired community action, raised awareness, and changed lives throughout the nation for over 10 years!
"You can be a local
HERO to BLACK LIVES everywhere!"
Menthol History

African Americans are disproportionately exposed to secondhand smoke (SHS) and heavily marketed to by the tobacco industry, resulting in greater rates of illness and death than the general population.

No Menthol May Campaign

Tobacco Free for a Healthy New Jersey (TFHNJ) is New Jersey’s largest collaborative effort to reduce the health consequences of tobacco use — including vaping — and the harm from secondhand smoke exposure through prevention, education and cessation in all 21 counties, including 11 Quit Centers.
TFHNJ's No Menthol May Statewide Campaign is focused on addressing the health disparities caused by the use of menthol tobacco products, which disproportionately affect communities of color. Through educational campaigns and community outreach efforts, the group aims to protect public health, particularly in vulnerable populations, and reduce tobacco-related harm in New Jersey. These efforts are part of a broader movement to advance tobacco control and ensure a healthier future for all.
